At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Lenovo introduced groundbreaking advancements in personal computing, including AI-driven innovations and a first-of-its-kind solar-powered laptop concept. Among the highlights were the Yoga Solar PC Concept, the refreshed Lenovo Aura Edition within the Yoga series, and uniquely shaped screens designed for diverse user needs.
Introducing the Yoga Solar PC Concept
Lenovo’s most ambitious reveal was the Yoga Solar PC Concept, a revolutionary laptop equipped with an integrated solar panel. Leveraging Back Contact Cell technology, this innovation relocates gridlines and mounting brackets to the back of the cells, maximizing solar absorption and achieving an industry-leading 24% conversion rate. In practical terms, 20 minutes of direct sunlight can provide up to an hour of video playback, demonstrating a significant step toward sustainable computing.

With a 14-inch OLED screen, an Intel Lunar Lake processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, the Yoga Solar PC is not just an eco-conscious innovation but also a high-performance device. It features an advanced Dynamic Solar Tracking system, optimizing energy capture by continuously adjusting the charger’s settings to prioritize the harvested energy. The panel even generates power in low-light conditions, ensuring sustained battery performance.
At just 15mm thick and weighing 1.22kg (2.29 pounds), Lenovo claims it to be the world’s first ultraslim solar-powered PC. However, while the device remains a concept with no production timeline announced, it reflects Lenovo’s broader vision of seamlessly integrating renewable energy into personal computing.
Expanding the Yoga Ecosystem
Lenovo also introduced the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, a 16-inch powerhouse built for creators. Featuring an Intel Core Ultra processor and an RTX 5070 GPU, it offers exceptional performance. The PureSight Pro tandem OLED display enhances color accuracy and clarity, making it an ideal choice for professionals in creative fields.
Meanwhile, the IdeaPad Slim 3x was showcased as a compact yet powerful laptop, tailored for mobile users seeking performance without compromising portability.
Beyond the Concept: A Portable Solar Power Kit
Lenovo also unveiled an external solar power kit concept designed for existing Yoga laptop users. This foldable kit, resembling a book, unfolds to reveal dual solar panels capable of directly charging devices via USB-C or powering a portable battery bank. While not yet confirmed for production, this innovation hints at Lenovo’s commitment to sustainability beyond a single device.
The Future of Lenovo’s Innovations
While Lenovo has not confirmed if the Yoga Solar PC will reach mass production, the company is moving forward with other innovative concepts. For instance, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, a 2023 concept featuring a rollable OLED display, is slated for release in June 2025, priced at $3,499.
“With the announcement of innovations like the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, the IdeaPad Slim 3x, and the Lenovo Yoga Solar PC Concept, Lenovo has delivered a suite of new devices and proofs of concept that empower end users to let their creativity shine, their ‘process’ unbounded by the processing of their PC thanks to AI-powered innovation,” said Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Segment, Intelligent Devices Group, in a press release.
As sustainability and AI-driven enhancements shape the future of personal computing, Lenovo’s latest reveals at MWC 2025 position the brand at the forefront of innovation, proving that the sun could be the next power source for laptops.
